Radim Malinic approached me while he was working on two separate books, Creativity for Sale and Mindful Creative. He needed an illustrator to explore the key ideas laid out in each chapter of both books.
The illustrations would be used at the start of each chapter to add a visual layer to the themes being discussed, helping to set the tone and draw readers into the ideas that follow.
Mindful Creative | A book about looking after yourself & your creativity when building a creative career.
After exploring some initial ideas we landed on an repeatable illustartion system. Each illustration was created in a rectangle format where elements are stacked on top of each other. All of the elements are connected to what Radim explores in the corresponding chapter.
I wanted the work to still have a playful feel and knew we didn’t want anything to literal so opted for simple line-art illustrations which represented topics like: auditing, organisation, taking breaks, reflection, maintaining hobbies etc.
